We have already written many times about Istanbul and its beauties, but this article is dedicated to all those who travel to Istanbul, and are affraid they will be hungry. First of all, this will never happen, because if there is a place in the world where you can enjoy numerous gastronomic delicacies 24/1, it is Istanbul. What we need to note at the beginning of the article is that kebab, in fact, literally means meat, not a dish. Dana kebab is beef meat, Tavuk Kebab is chicken meat, Shish kebab is meat on a stick, izgara kebab is grilled meat and so on… So don’t expect a wrapper with thinly sliced meat like the one you would get in Germany and other european countries.

Now that we know the basics, we can go to the restaurant.

Below you can discover five restaurants that we recommend you to visit while in Istanbul.

1. The House Caffe, Ortokoy

This restaurant is located right on the shores of the Bosphorus and provides a truly unforgettable experience. There is nothing better than relaxing with a glass of wine and deliciously prepared meals. Here you will find Turkish specialties as well as pizzas and burgers, if you have time, before or after a meal you walk through this picturesque neighborhood of Ortokoy where you will find many shops, narrow streets and famous views of the Bosporus bridge that connects Asia with Europe.

2. Pierre Loti, Eyüpsultan

Although the food here falls completely into the background, in this place you will enjoy a beautiful view of the city. Of course, the food is delicious, and traditional Turkish dishes are on the menu. After a meal, try the San Sebastian cake with a real cup of Turkish coffee. To get to the restaurant, you have to climb up the hill with a cable car that offers one of the most beautiful views of the Halic neighbourhood, as well as the surrounding area.

3. Rooftop restaurant at Wyndham Grand Istanbul Kalamis Marina Hotel

Indulge in the delicious flavors of traditional Turkish dishes, Western cuisine or cuisine from the far East. Serving the freshest ingredients and offering a wide range of local and international dishes, restaurants offer unforgettable menu. You will find several restaurants in the hotel, but we definitely recommend you try the fish specialties.  Special fish soup in the Ouzo restaurant is a must!

4. Sushico, a chain of restaurants throughout the city

Offering a colorful, rich menu composed of Far Eastern cuisine, Sushico is a great discovery for lovers of Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisine. Sushico restaurants are located all over Istanbul, and you will find them in almost every neighborhood. Try their Bento menus, which bring you several different dishes on a plate at a price of around 5-9 eur.

5. Terrace 41, Beyoglu

This restaurant is located away from public view in a small hotel (Hotel Corinna), on the roof of the building. From the terrace of the restaurant you can catch a beautiful view of Beyoglu and Sultanahmet, and there is no better enjoyment of a good meal with an even more spectacular view. A place where you can feel like in a botanical garden and have romantic moments by the fireplace, also offers you space for private events – if you happen to think of celebrating a birthday in Istanbul.
